New Year ~ New Intentional Thoughts

Are you one of those people who are happy to see 2020 go? I feel the same way. It has been a highly intense year with Covid, lock downs, job loss, civil unrest, and the election.
I lost my own father to Covid in October. My family and I struggled through the funeral with the same virus the killed our dad. It sucked.
Most of us feel like 2021 has to be better. I hope we are right.
We are creating an amazing year with that thought, that 2021 has to be better.
With our thoughts, we create our reality.
Neuroscientist are discovering this more and more with new technology to study the brain and brainwaves. Dr. Joe Dispenza is doing research with people using intentional thoughts in meditation. He is amazing results. People are healing themselves from cancer, stroke limitations, blindness and much more.

Thoughts are powerful things.
God teaches about the universal law of thought in the scriptures, written thousands of years ago. God tells us to ask, knock, and receive (3 Nephi 14,7-8, Luke 11:9-11 KJV, Doctrine and Covenants 11:5, Matthew 7:7-11 KJV, . God is a God of abundant loving kindness. God wants us to prosper (Alma 36:1) and have joy (2 Nephi 2:25).
Asking is the thought, knocking is having the faith to move forward in action with your energy that your thought is happening and then you receive.

The scriptures may be some of the oldest texts to speak about how our brain/thoughts work, by asking and receiving, but many modern day Life Coaches, Philosophers, Authors, Doctors and Scientists have spoken similarly on thoughts. Intentional thought, new consciousness transformation, cognitive reframing, Law of Attraction, and New Thought to name a few.
One philosopher, Wallace Wattles (1860-1911) states that his theories are Hindu in nature. Some of his teachings are:
"By thought, the thing you want is brought to you. By action you receive it"

"Once you make a decision the universe conspires to make it happen"
Wattles also talks about how the Universe (God) is on our side,
"The Universe desires you to have everything you want to have. Nature is friendly to your plans. Everything is naturally for you. Make up your mind that this is true" (The Science of Getting Rich).
That is a comforting thought. The Universe wants us to succeed. Wallace Wattles suggests the study of Descartes, Spinoza, Leibnitz, Schopenhauer, Hegel, and Emerson to see where he learned his philosophies.
Self-help author, Napoleon Hill (1883-1970), also said great things about the power of our thoughts. Things like,
"Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve"

So we have to ask for what we want, we have to think about it. We need to know what we want and have a very clear, detailed vision of the thing we want.
Napoleon Hill advises,
"Reduce your plan to writing. The moment you complete this, you will have definitely given concrete form to the intangible desire"
Many motivational writers suggest creating a vision board or book and displaying it where you will see if often so it will keep the thing you want in the forefront of your thoughts.
According to the book, The Jackrabbit Factor,
"All physical things have a spiritual counterpart. By thinking, we draw the spiritual counterpart to ourselves. By persisting in the right thought, the angels do our bidding and arrange the affairs of men to cause the worthy desires to pass from the spiritual to the physical world" (Leslie Householder).
I noticed two things in that passage. We use our thinking to get what we want, then angels help us get it AND the thing we want needs to be a "worthy" want.
The scriptures and Wattles both pointed this out as well. The thing we want needs to be for our good, then we will have it. If we are desiring things that won't better us and won't help us grow, it won't be a for sure deal that we get it.
SIDE NOTE: Interpret "For your good and worthy wants" loosely. We humans tend to think if something is negative and causes us pain it is not for our good, so it isn't worthy. God doesn't work that way and neither does this earth life.
We are here to experience opposition. We need the negative so we can become aware of the positive. That is part of the deal. Look around EVERYBODY is having both positive and negative happenings in their life. That is what we need. That is for our good.
So you may get the man of your dreams, the one you have created with your thoughts...and then he dies in a car accident a month after your wedding. And you wonder how that can be for your good.
We won't know all the ways negative things are for our good in this life time.
Just know that it is for your good or you wouldn't have gotten it.
When I think of it like that...maybe 2020 was for my good, and yours, and the whole world's good after all. It had to be or it wouldn't have happened like that. Right?
Maybe that is what our thoughts could focus on....asking the question "How has this experience been for my good?"

Of course, a question is a different kind of thought. Jim Kwik teaches about asking good "positive based" questions in order to get the brain busy working for you. I think I will leave that teaching for another day.
I hope you find some wonderful intentional thoughts to think this year.
Happy Thought/Life Creating,
Holly Jo
